The Committee

The Committee (Comitato per l’Edizione Nazionale delle Opere di Antonio Canova) was established by the President of the Italian Republic's Decree (19 January 1983).

The aim of the Committee is to collect and publish, in addition to the artist's autograph documents (published in the first two volumes of the Writings), the huge collection of his and his correspondenta' letters.

The list of correspondents is politically, culturally and socially very wide and diversified: it includes artists, writers, scientists, soldiers, politicians, princes, emperors, as well as the poor relatives that lived in Possagno.
